Adolf Matura (1921 - 1979) is of great importance in the history of Czechoslovakian pressed glass. Matura was primarily a glass artist. At the beginning of his career he concentrated on etched glass in Železny Brod. Later he concentrated on table and complementary glass designs. In the mid-1960s, he began to devote himself to printed glass. Matura loved figurative work. Among his designs is one of the best vases, the two-sided vase, which is highly prized by collectors of pressed glass.
